Your profile is the foundation of everything MentorNeko does for you: matching, directory presence, and partner introductions. Keeping it current is worth the effort. When your skills, goals, or availability change, updating your profile means those changes are reflected in any future matching cycles you participate in.
Accessing the Edit Profile Dialog
From your dashboard, click the Edit Profile button or click your avatar in the top navigation. This opens the edit profile dialog where all of your profile fields live.

Updating Your Bio
Your bio appears on your directory card and full profile page. It is often the first thing a prospective match reads to understand who you are and what you bring to the relationship.
To update it, click into the bio field and edit freely. Remember that your bio must be at least 30 words to maintain profile readiness. If you shorten it below that threshold, you will lose the ability to enroll in new programs until you bring it back up.
Write in first person, keep it current, and focus on what you are working on now rather than a full career summary.
Changing Dimension Values
Dimension fields, such as your skills, goals, seniority, and department, are the primary inputs for AI matching. Updating them after you complete onboarding is a normal and encouraged part of using the platform.
Common reasons to update your dimensions:
- You have picked up new skills or tools
- Your goals have shifted since you first set them
- You moved into a new role or department
- You want to be matched on different criteria in an upcoming cycle
Find the dimension section of the edit profile dialog and update any values that no longer reflect your current situation. Changes are picked up by the next matching cycle that includes you.

Uploading or Changing Your Avatar
Your avatar is a profile readiness requirement and a key part of how other members recognize you. To update it, click the avatar area in the edit dialog and select a new photo from your device. The platform accepts JPG and PNG files.
Choose a clear, recent photo where your face is visible. Avatars are shown at small sizes in cards and chips, so cropped, well-lit photos work best.
Setting Your Availability
The availability toggle controls whether you appear in matching pools. When availability is off, you are excluded from new match proposals across all programs. When it is on, you are eligible to be matched in any program you are enrolled in.
Use this toggle when you are going through a busy period and know you cannot take on a new match commitment. It is a better option than withdrawing from programs entirely, since you can turn it back on when you are ready.
Adding a Booking URL
A booking URL makes it easy for your match partners, introduction pairings, and directory visitors to schedule time with you without a back-and-forth email thread. Calendly, Cal.com, and similar scheduling tools all work.
Paste your booking link into the booking URL field in the edit profile dialog. Once saved, a Book Time button appears on your directory card and profile page (unless you have turned off booking link visibility in your directory settings).
Adding Your LinkedIn URL
If you want to make your LinkedIn profile accessible to other members, add your LinkedIn URL to the corresponding field. This appears as a link on your profile page when LinkedIn visibility is turned on in your directory settings.

How Profile Updates Affect Matching
Profile changes do not retroactively affect active matches. Your current match was made based on the profile you had at the time. Updates you make now will influence the AI's recommendations in future matching cycles, so it is worth keeping things current even between matches.
