Managing Your Directory Visibility

MentorNeko gives you control over your presence in the community directory. You decide whether you appear at all, and if so, which contact details other members can see. These settings live in the edit profile dialog, which you can access from your dashboard.

The Directory Visibility Toggle

The top-level control is the Appear in directory toggle. When this is on, your profile card appears in the community directory and other members can find you by browsing or filtering. When it is off, you are completely hidden from the directory, regardless of any other settings.

Turning off directory visibility does not affect your participation in mentorship programs or networking introductions. Your matches and introduction partners can still see your full profile.

Contact Information Toggles

If you are visible in the directory, three nested toggles control what contact information other members can see:

LinkedIn Profile

Your LinkedIn URL is hidden by default. Turn this on if you want other members to be able to view your LinkedIn profile directly from your directory card or profile page. This is useful if you actively use LinkedIn and want to make it easy for colleagues to connect with you there.

Email Address

Your email address is hidden by default. Turn this on if you want your email to be publicly visible in the directory. Most members leave this off and use Connect for initial outreach instead, since Connect lets the recipient decide whether to respond without exposing their email first.

Booking Link

If you have added a booking URL to your profile, it is visible in the directory by default. This default makes sense because adding a booking link is an active step you took specifically to make scheduling easy. Turn this off if you want to keep your booking link private from the general directory while still using it with your matches and introduction partners.

What Match Partners and Introduction Partners Always See

Some information is always shared with people you are directly connected to, regardless of your directory visibility settings:

• Matched mentors and mentees in an active or past mentorship program always have access to your full contact information, including LinkedIn, email, and booking link.
• Networking introduction partners during an active introduction round also have access to your full contact details for the duration of that introduction.

This ensures that the people you are actually working with have everything they need to communicate and schedule meetings, even if you prefer to stay less visible to the broader community.

Where to Find These Settings

To update your visibility settings:

1. Go to your dashboard
2. Click your profile photo or the Edit Profile button
3. Scroll to the Visibility section
4. Toggle each setting on or off as you prefer
5. Save your changes

Changes take effect immediately. If you turn off directory visibility, your card disappears from the directory right away.
