When you first log into MentorNeko, you are guided through a short onboarding wizard before reaching your dashboard. The wizard collects the information the platform needs to match you well and help you find the right programs. Your progress saves automatically after each step, so you can pause and come back without losing anything.

Step 0: Your Intent
The first step asks what you are here for. This is not a binding commitment. It is a signal that helps the platform and your administrator understand your goals and route you toward the right programs.
Your options are:
- Mentor: You want to share your experience and support others in their growth
- Mentee: You want to learn and develop with the guidance of a more experienced colleague
- Networking: You want to build peer relationships and connect with people across your organization
- Exploring: You are not sure yet and want to look around before deciding
You can select Mentor, Mentee, and Networking together in any combination. Exploring is mutually exclusive with the others, since it signals that you are not ready to commit to a specific intent yet.
Whatever you choose now, you can update it later from your profile.

Step 1: Profile Dimensions
Profile dimensions are the structured fields that power your AI match. This step asks you to fill in details about your background, experience, skills, goals, and what you are looking for. The exact fields depend on what your organization has configured, but you can expect questions about:
- Your seniority level or years of experience
- Your department or functional area
- Skills you have or want to develop
- Goals you are working toward
- Any additional fields your organization has set up for matching
Fields marked as required must be filled before you can complete onboarding. Optional fields are still worth filling in because each additional data point improves match quality.

Step 2: Your Bio
Write a short bio introducing yourself to the community. Think of it as a professional introduction: a few sentences about your background, what you are working on, and what you hope to get from the experience.
Your bio needs to be at least 30 words to meet the profile readiness requirement for program enrollment. It does not need to be long. Clear and genuine is better than exhaustive.
Your bio is visible to other members in the community directory and on your profile page, so write it as you would want to present yourself to colleagues.
Step 3: Program Discovery
The final step shows you the programs available in your organization. Browse through them and enroll in any that match your goals and intent. Some programs may confirm enrollment immediately; others require administrator approval before your enrollment is finalized.
You do not have to enroll in a program during onboarding. You can always browse and join programs later from the Programs section in your dashboard.

After Onboarding
Once you complete the wizard, you land on your dashboard. From here you can track your matches, access session materials, explore the community directory, and update your profile at any time.
All of the information you filled in during onboarding is editable. If your goals change, your skills grow, or you want to update your bio, open the edit profile dialog from your dashboard and make your changes. Updates to your profile dimensions can improve the quality of future matches.
