Every mentorship match has a beginning and an end. Understanding how the wind-down process works helps you make the most of your final sessions, close out thoughtfully, and carry what you have built into whatever comes next.

How Matches End
A match can reach its end through several paths:
- Final session completed: When both participants have marked the last planned session complete, the match moves into Concluding status.
- Program duration expires: For fixed cohort programs, all active matches enter Concluding status when the program's end date arrives, regardless of session progress.
- Admin concludes the match: A program administrator can manually move a match to Concluding at any time.
- Termination: If either participant requests termination, the match ends immediately with a Terminated status rather than moving through Concluding.
Concluding Status
When a match enters Concluding status, it means the active phase is over but the wrap-up process has not yet finished. During Concluding:
- Both participants are prompted to complete an exit survey.
- The Match Hub remains accessible so you can finish any notes or goals you want to close out.
- Nudge emails are sent if the exit survey sits incomplete for too long.
- Once both participants have submitted their exit survey and completed the final session, the match transitions to Completed.

The Exit Survey
The exit survey is a short set of questions about your experience in the match and the program. Your organization's administrator may have customized the questions for your program, but a typical survey covers:
- How valuable you found the relationship overall
- Whether you made progress on your goals
- What worked well and what could be improved
- Whether you would recommend the program to others
Your responses are confidential and are used by your program administrator to improve matching quality and program design. Completing the survey is one of the most impactful things you can do to help future participants.
Re-enrollment for Always-On Programs
If your program is always-on, you will receive a prompt after your exit survey asking whether you are ready for another match. You have two options:
- Yes, match me again: Your profile returns to the matching pool and you will be included in the next matching cycle.
- Not right now: You are opted out of new matches temporarily. You can opt back in at any time from your program settings.
For fixed cohort programs, re-enrollment is not available after the cohort closes.
Viewing Past Partnerships
After a match completes, it moves to your dashboard under Past Partnerships. From there you can:
- View the full Match Hub in read-only mode, including all session notes, goals, and your agreement
- See the match summary with total sessions, goals achieved, and days active
- Download your completion certificate
Completed match records are preserved permanently. Nothing is deleted.

Completion Certificates
When a match completes, MentorNeko generates a personalized completion certificate for each participant. The certificate includes:
- Your name and the program name
- Your partner's name and role
- Program dates
- Sessions completed and goals achieved
The certificate is printable and includes your organization's branding. You can download it from the past partnerships section of your dashboard at any time after the match completes.
