Session Guides and Notes

Each session in your mentorship has two companion resources inside the Match Hub: a session guide prepared by your program administrator, and a shared notes document where you and your partner capture what you discussed. Used together, they help you arrive prepared and leave with a clear record of the conversation.

Session Guides

Session guides are authored by your program administrator. Each numbered session in your program has its own guide, which typically includes:

  • Discussion questions: Prompts to drive the conversation during your meeting
  • Preparation materials: Optional reading, reflections, or tasks to complete before the session

To access a session guide, go to the Sessions tab in your Match Hub and click the session you are preparing for. The guide content appears in the session detail view.

Review the discussion questions before your meeting. As a mentee, you are driving the agenda, so coming in with thoughts on each question makes for a richer conversation.

Shared Session Notes

Below the session guide, each session has a shared notes editor. Both you and your partner can write and edit in the same document at any time, before or after the session.

Auto-save: Notes are saved automatically as you type. You do not need to click a save button.

Concurrent editing: If you and your partner are both editing at the same time, the platform handles the synchronization. In the rare case of a conflict, you will see a notification and can review both versions.

Common uses for session notes include:

  • Key takeaways from the discussion
  • Action items you each committed to
  • Resources mentioned during the session (links, books, contacts)
  • Follow-up topics to revisit in the next session

Revision History

Every time session notes are saved, a revision is recorded. If you or your partner accidentally delete something or want to see how the notes evolved, you can open the revision history for any session's notes.

To view revision history:

  1. Open the session detail page from the Sessions tab.
  2. Click Revision History above the notes editor.
  3. Browse the list of saved revisions with timestamps and the name of who saved each one.
  4. Click any revision to preview it.
  5. Click Restore to revert to that version.

The restored version becomes the new current version, and the restoration itself is recorded in the history. Nothing is permanently lost.

Flexible Sessions

If your program has flexible sessions enabled, and your program administrator has turned this on, you and your partner can create a custom session plan alongside or instead of the standard numbered sessions.

To use flexible sessions:

  1. Open the Sessions tab in your Match Hub.
  2. Look for the Custom Sessions section at the bottom of the list.
  3. Click Add Session to create a new custom session with its own title and notes.

This is useful if your relationship has evolved beyond the default structure, if you have covered the core content ahead of schedule, or if you want to add topic-specific sessions not in the original guide.

Custom sessions work the same as standard ones: both of you can take notes, and custom sessions appear in your check-in timeline.
