When your match is activated, a partnership agreement is automatically created in your Match Hub. The agreement is a shared document where you and your partner establish the ground rules for your relationship: expectations, communication preferences, and how you will make the most of your time together.

What the Agreement Covers
The agreement comes pre-populated with a template. Your organization's administrator may have set a custom template tailored to your program, or it may follow MentorNeko's default structure. Typical content includes:
- Goals and intentions for the relationship
- Communication preferences (how often you'll be in touch outside of scheduled sessions)
- Mutual expectations for preparation and attendance
- How you'll handle disagreements or misalignments
Think of it as a brief, practical contract you write together. It is not a legal document; it is a shared commitment to make the most of the experience.
Editing the Agreement
Both you and your partner can edit the agreement content at any time before signing. The editor handles edits from both sides gracefully. If you and your partner make changes simultaneously, the platform detects the conflict and prompts you to review and reconcile before saving.
To edit, open the Agreement tab in your Match Hub and click into the document. Your changes are saved automatically.
Your program administrator set the starting template, but you are free to customize the content. Add anything that matters to your specific partnership; remove anything that does not apply.

Signing the Agreement
When you are both happy with the content, each participant signs separately. To sign:
- Open the Agreement tab in your Match Hub.
- Review the current content carefully.
- Click Sign Agreement and confirm.
Both participants must sign before the agreement is considered complete. You will see a status indicator showing whether your partner has signed yet.
Once both signatures are recorded, the agreement becomes read-only. A content hash is generated at the time of signing, which creates a tamper-evident record confirming the document has not been changed after you signed it.

The Agreement Gate
Some organizations require both participants to sign the partnership agreement before sessions can be marked complete. If this setting is enabled in your program, you will see a notice in the session completion flow until the agreement is signed by both partners.
If you try to complete a session before signing, the platform will return a prompt reminding you to sign the agreement first. Once both signatures are in place, session completion proceeds normally.
After Signing
After both partners sign, the agreement remains in the Agreement tab of your Match Hub for the life of the partnership. You can reference it at any time to recall the commitments you made together.
If your match concludes and the record is archived, the agreement history is preserved so you have a full record of the relationship when you look back at past partnerships on your dashboard.
