Using the Community Directory

The community directory is your window into your organization's member community. It lives at /directory and gives you a browsable view of colleagues who have chosen to be discoverable. Whether you are looking for a peer with a specific skill set, scouting potential mentors, or simply exploring who else is in the community, the directory is where you start.

Who Appears in the Directory

Not everyone in your organization is automatically visible. A member appears in the directory only if:

  • Their account is active and they have completed onboarding
  • They have turned on their directory visibility setting (the "Appear in directory" toggle in their profile)

Members who have not yet completed onboarding, or who have opted out of directory visibility, will not appear. This is intentional. The directory shows people who are actively engaged and open to connection.

Browsing the Directory

When you open the directory, you see a grid of member cards. Each card shows:

  • Name and profile photo
  • Role badges (Mentor, Mentee, Networking)
  • A short excerpt from their bio
  • Dimension tags for any profile values they have made public, such as skills, goals, or department

You can scroll through the full directory or use the tools available to narrow your search.

Filtering with Dimension Chips

The chip filter bar at the top of the directory lets you filter members by their profile dimensions. Common filters include skills, goals, seniority level, department, and any custom dimensions your organization has configured.

To use a filter:

  1. Click any chip in the filter bar to open that dimension's options
  2. Select one or more values you want to filter by
  3. The directory updates instantly to show members who match your selections
  4. Add multiple filters to narrow results further
  5. Click a chip again or clear the selection to remove that filter

Filters are additive. If you filter by both "Product Management" under Department and "Leadership" under Skills, you will see members who match both.

Viewing a Member's Full Profile

Click any member card to open their full profile page. This gives you a more complete view of their background, including their full bio, all public dimension values, and contact options if they have enabled them.

What you can see on a profile depends on the member's visibility settings:

  • Bio and dimension tags: Always visible for discoverable members
  • LinkedIn profile: Only visible if the member has enabled LinkedIn sharing
  • Email address: Only visible if the member has enabled email sharing
  • Booking link: Visible by default if the member has added one, unless they have turned it off

If you and a member are matched together in a program, or if you have been introduced through a networking round, you can always see their full contact information regardless of their public settings.
